Shortly after the announcement of the Xbox One last year, Microsoft has provided the players that drivers will be available for PC in order to use the joystick on the computers. After numerous delays and informal methods on the net, the drivers are finally available!
In fact, it's Major Nelson, spokesman for the Redmond, who (finally) posted the files for Windows to recognize the controller. Regarding the compatibility of games, no need to worry because all games compatible with the Xbox controller 360 are also with that of the One. Note that only the wireframe is available and no announcement has been made for wireless use (with adapter).
The drivers are compatible for Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. In all cases if the installation scares you, Major Nelson would add an update to Windows coming soon so as not to complicate your task.
How to install the drivers for the Xbox One?
- First, download the driver here (for 32-bit OS) or here (for 64-bit OS);
- Once downloaded, launch the installer;
- Once the installer started, read the agreement and check "I accept the terms in the License Agreement";
- Click Install;
- Connect the controller to a USB port on the PC and wait five minutes while Windows installs the handle;
