Competition is always good! While applications Streaming (Hulu and Netflix in particular) are reserved for subscribers on Xbox Live Gold Xbox, competing services (PlayStation Network and the Nintendo Network) offer these applications without any restrictions. Therefore, access to relevant applications is necessarily less interesting on Xbox consoles on others.
According to our colleagues Ars Technica - citing multiple internal sources at Microsoft - this limitation will soon fall, at least for streaming applications. If that happens, it would be good news as this restriction is absurd. Remains whether Microsoft will do the same for other applications (Internet Explorer, Skype etc).
