Xbox One : a major concern with the beta update

Caution before start you!

Watch well if ever you have been selected to be part of the April Update beta program. Indeed, a Reddit user, KAM7, has reported a problem caused by the audio settings of the Xbox One, which could plunge your console in a boot endless during the installation of this update.

Indeed, if ever you have set your machine to operate on the optical audio output, change this option until your Xbox One is updated, it could avoid a long and tedious procedure. Microsoft has actually already found a solution to the problem and gives how to properly restart your Xbox One.

We have recorded some return of participants who encounter a problem with the installation of this update. The reported problem is that some consoles plunge into a loop trying to install the update, some also display a black screen. This concern hit consoles that are configured with the optical audio enabled, and this causes an invalid response from the audio settings during the process. If you encounter this problem, follow these few steps, it is a workaround. Developers are working on a fix.

  1. Unplug the network cable or disable the wireless network and start your console.
  2. If the update screen does not appear, disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable until the update screen appears;
  3. At the update screen, click on cancel - cancel appears only when network is disconnected;
  4. Go to settings > display and sound;
  5. Go Audio HDMI and Optical Audio to Stereo uncompressed;
  6. Reconnect the network cable, or re-enable your wireless network, and connect your console to the network;
  7. The update screen should appear and the update should be done successfully.
If the update is not yet available for you, do not hesitate to already change your audio settings to prevent you these few inconveniences.
