The Xbox One SmartGlass apps for Windows and Windows Phone were off to a crash-tastic start this year (seemingly due to a date related bug),so it appears that an update pushed out now has patched up the problem.
If you were experiencing problems for the last day or two launching both the regular and and beta apps, feel free to check for an update and fire them up.
