Microsoft acknowledged that it has failed to pay certain developers of games on the Xbox Live Indie Games channel for Xbox 360, and apologized for the issue today, according to a statement posted on the official ID@Xbox Twitter account.
"Due to a technical issue in our payment system, we recently learned that some payments to select developers in the Xbox Live Indie Games program on Xbox 360 were delayed," Microsoft said in a statement. "Our partners are important to us and we work hard to help make sure they have a great development experience. This was an unfortunate error and we are working hard to fix it. We apologize for this incident and anticipate developers will receive payments within the next two weeks."
Xbox Live Indie Games developers such as Ian Campbell, maker of the platformer Bleed, and Freelance Games, the studio behind the adventure game Trailer Park King, began to note on Twitter last month that Microsoft was late on its third-quarter payments for sales of their games. According to Freelance Games, Microsoft was supposed to have paid developers within 45 days of the end of the quarter. The third quarter of the calendar year ended Sept. 30, so payments should have arrived by Nov. 15.
This issue does not affect Xbox One indie developers, Microsoft (ID@Xbox Twitter account) also clarified
